The Codrington Arms

COVID - 19 RISK ASSESSMENT

May 2021

Excellent personal hygiene must be demonstrated by every member of staff. Hands will be washed at the beginning and end of every shift and after completion of any task.
Customers will be reminded to wash & sanitize hands regularly using clear signage & sanitation stations

Working areas will be allocated to prevent staff from working too closely with each other.

We have removed some of our tables to create more space and at least a 1-meter gap between each table. A screen will be erected on the bar where a 1-meter distance cant not be maintained.
Customers will be reminded to adhere to social distancing measures using clear signage.
When food and drinks are brought to you, it will be placed at the end of your table for you to move.
Our menu has been reduced to allow for less staff to be needed in the kitchen at any one time. This will mean your food may take longer than normal to come out of the kitchen.
Only one person will be able to work behind the bar at any one time. This will mean that your drinks may take longer to be brought to you. Please be patient with us.
We have a clear policy to deal with any member of staff that has or displays any symptoms of COVID-19. This also extends to customers
Card payments will be encouraged. If any cash is handled staff will need to wash and sanitize hands straight after. Customers using cash will also be encouraged to sainted hands with a sanitizing station at the order point.
We have considered in depth the use of PPE in our site. Whilst PPE including face masks, visors, and gloves will be available for all staff to use, with the measures put in place, and assuming customers also stick to social distancing and the new rules we are working to, we do not feel PPE will bring any additional protection. HOWEVER, this will be revisited once we are able to see how the measures put in place work in practice.

Managing Risk When We Are Open & Trading

Violence & aggression, & rudeness will not be tolerated, and all staff have been trained on the best ways to deal with this behavior if it arises.
All staff will complete a Fitness to work form and this will be revived regularly to ensure the team, or their families or people they live with, are not displaying any COVID- 19 symptoms.!

An enhanced cleaning regime has been adopted focusing on internal & external touch points, regular sanitizing of public spaces, back of house spaces, and regular cleaning of public toilets.!
Staff will be retrained in cellar management and perfect pouring. The top of the glass will not be touched, the nozzle will not enter the liquid. No glasses will be re-used at any time. All drinks will be decanted into a glass. Straws will not be available.

A new one-way system has been implemented at the pub. The front entrance will be used to enter only. The rear doors in the restaurant will be used to exit only. Clear signage will be used to show this.

We will be reminding customers of the current government guidelines surrounding meeting with different households, and to aid with this seat no more than 6 people on a table at any one time.

Managing Public Toilets

A new toilet cleaning system will be put in place, where the toilets will be cleaned every hour. This will focus on all contact points including, taps, flushes, mirrors and hand dryers, and toilet seats.

In the gents, only one urinal and the remaining cubical will be allowed to be used.!

The main entrance door to the toilet has been removed to allow better access in and out.

Clear signage will be used to remix customers to wash their hands, sanitize their hands and keep their distance.
The toilets will be regularly monitored.

The Garden

The garden can be accessed either through the one-way system in the pub or through the main side gate.
Both will be manned by a member of staff, and you will be shown to your bench!

While we will be taking bookings for the tables in the garden, customers will be informed at the time of booking, that if the weather changes, they will only be able to relocate inside if there are enough tables available and it is safe to do so.!

Tables, benches, and blankets may not be moved by customers under any circumstances, customers will be told this as they are taken to their area.
The appropriate amount of disposable menus and cutlery will be ready for you on your table.

If at all possible, your table will not be cleared of used glasses and plates until after your visit, at which point the table and chairs will be sanitised, ready for the next customer.  after you are seated and you have been given time to read the menu, a member of staff will be over to take your order!

Your plate will be left at the end of your table for you to arrange yourselves.
You may be asked to move back from the table while food or drinks are being placed on it.

The play area will not be in use.

Fresh clean uniforms will be worn on every shift.

Our Team

Our team will be going through a new training process that will cover a refresher of all of our normal induction & health & safety training, along with a New COVID-19 safe training package which will cover everything that has been detailed in this risk assessment.

This training and the risk assessment is ongoing, and will be reassessed as time goes on and we see whats works well & what doesn’t. The team will be refreshed on this as we go.
We will create working zones, where only 1 person does 1 task at a time to minimise contact. i.e., 1 on the bar, 1 in the restaurant, 1 in the garden, etc.

The team will be constantly washing and sanitising their hands, after every task, on entering and leaving the building, and at any point in between.
Temperature checks will be carried out before every shift. If a temperature of 37.8oc or above is recorded then the current government guidelines will be adhered to by that person.

If the team member shows this and any other symptoms they will not enter the building, they will inform me straight away and will follow the current government guidelines.
As always, the team will demonstrate the highest levels of personal hygiene at all times.
